About Odyssey Energy Solutions
The energy transition will be won or lost in emerging markets, and Odyssey is building the infrastructure to win it.
Founded in 2017, Odyssey Energy Solutions is the platform at the center of the distributed renewable energy sector. We connect a network of ~6,000 EPCs and project developers across India, Africa, and Latin America with the institutional capital, Tier-1 equipment, and financial tools they need to build faster. With over $3B of capital on our platform, Odyssey is the connective tissue of the distributed energy sector — linking the builders, the financiers, and the equipment suppliers who are electrifying emerging markets.
Backed by Union Square Ventures, Equal Ventures, and a deep bench of development finance institutions, Odyssey is at an inflection point. We're looking for exceptional people ready to build something that matters.
Odyssey offers solutions for the full lifecycle of development funding: feasibility studies and site analysis, applications and eligibility evaluation for financing programs, results-based financing (RBF) disbursements, and on to portfolio management and asset monitoring. Our clients include DFIs, governments, off-grid energy companies, and development programs operating across Sub-Saharan Africa and beyond.
What we're looking for
You are a delivery-oriented professional who is equally comfortable in a client meeting and a technical standup. When a client describes their program, you are already thinking about how to configure it in a digital setting. When something is not working, you investigate before you escalate — you check what the system received, what it returned, and where the mismatch is. When a client does not know exactly what they want, you know how to ask the questions that get you there, and then translate the answers into a platform setup that works. You know the kinds of KPIs that make your clients tick, that can inform decisions, and show off their hard work to stakeholders.
You get genuine satisfaction from dialing in a platform configuration that clicks — when the grant eligibility logic is set up exactly correctly, the verification workflow matches how the client actually operates, and the whole thing is ready to go before the tender opens. You are a creative problem-solver who can utilize existing functionality to meet a client's specific needs.
If you bring deep experience in DRE, RBF programs, or off-grid energy markets, that is a genuine advantage. If you come from a different field, you will learn the sector faster than you think.
You are also organised, client-focused, and comfortable managing multiple programs and stakeholders simultaneously. You can establish long-standing relationships with clients to ensure they have the best experience and flag internally when they need additional care. French fluency is required for this role given the client base across West Africa.
What you’ll do
Platform Implementation
- Translate client financing program designs into configured workflows on the Odyssey platform, including eligibility criteria, verification logic, and disbursement triggers
- Set up and test platform environments ahead of tender window launches
- Troubleshoot integration failures between client CRMs, data systems, and the Odyssey platform — investigating root causes before escalating
- Work with clients to map their existing processes (often paper-based or informal) onto platform logic, asking the right questions to surface requirements they have not yet articulated
- Good eye for data storytelling and the types of KPIs your clients will want to track
Client Management
- Serve as a primary point of contact for Odyssey financing platform clients in West Africa
- Run stakeholder consultations, program reviews, and platform demonstrations independently
- Anticipate client needs across active programs and manage multiple delivery timelines simultaneously
- Serve as a trusted advisor to financiers and program managers on monitoring, data quality, and program performance
Internal Collaboration
- Coordinate with Data, Engineering, and Product teams to resolve client issues and communicate platform improvement opportunities
- Work closely with Business Development to support new program launches and client onboarding
- Document client configurations, integration setups, and troubleshooting processes to build institutional knowledge
Skills/Qualifications
Required
- Fluency in French and English — you will manage clients and run meetings in both languages
- 3–5 years of experience in a role that required translating between what clients need and what a system or process can deliver — this could be implementation consulting, technical account management, digital program delivery, fintech or mobile money operations, or similar
- Demonstrable comfort with software platforms, data workflows, and integration concepts — you do not need to be an engineer, but you need to be the person who reads the error message carefully
- Strong communication and facilitation skills — you can run a client meeting, manage a difficult conversation, and write a clear follow-up
- Experience working in or with emerging markets, particularly West Africa
Strong Advantage
- Familiarity with results-based financing (RBF) mechanisms, disbursement-on-results program structures, or DFI-funded energy programs
- Experience working with or within distributed renewable energy (DRE) companies — SHS distributors, mini-grid operators, PAYG companies, or EPC contractors
- Background in fields such as electrical engineering, telecoms operations, digital health deployment, MIS/reporting, or B2B SaaS implementation — these backgrounds have translated well into this role
- Experience with CRM platforms, API integrations, or data verification workflows
Location
Flexible. Odyssey is a remote-first company. Strong preference for candidates based in West Africa, particularly in Francophone markets.
