We are seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to expand our renewable energy fintech business in Brazil. The Business Development Director will be responsible for driving business development initiatives within the banking and non-banking finance sectors, as well as cultivating partnerships with renewable energy project developers and equipment manufacturers. The successful candidate will play a key role in expanding our presence in Brazil, identifying new opportunities, and fostering strategic relationships.
We are looking for candidates with deep expertise in the renewable energy sector in Brazil, particularly distributed renewables and renewables financing.

Who you are
The ideal candidate has significant experience in the renewable energy sector in Brazil (distributed renewables + focus on financing preferred). You possess strong relationship-building skills and excel in cultivating and maintaining partnerships with key stakeholders, including decision-makers at banks, financial institutions, and renewable energy companies. With a results-oriented mindset and excellent communication and negotiation abilities, you will drive the development and execution of strategic business plans to achieve sales targets and expand market share. Your ability to identify and capitalize on new business opportunities, lead negotiations, and collaborate effectively across internal teams ensures the successful implementation of business development initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategic business development plans to achieve sales targets and expand market share within the banking and non-banking finance sectors.
- Identify high priority target clients and business partners to grow Odyssey’s presence in the region.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including decision-makers at banks, financial institutions, and renewable energy companies.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities, including partnerships with renewable energy project developers and equipment manufacturer.
- Lead negotiations and contract discussions with potential clients and partners, ensuring favorable terms and agreements.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including sales, marketing, and project management, to support the successful execution of business development initiatives, identifying additional resource needs to address market opportunities.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, market developments, and regulatory changes to inform strategic decision-making and business planning.
Skills/Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Engineering, or a related field; MBA or equivalent preferred.
- Proven track record of success in business development, sales, or account management roles in renewable energy finance.
- Experience in a finance, business development, or asset management role within a bank, DFI, and/or renewable energy developer operating in the region.
- Strong network of contacts within the banking and non-banking finance sectors, as well as the renewable energy industry in the country.
- Excellent presentation, communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and influence key stakeholders.
- Strategic thinker with a results-oriented mindset and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize effectively to meet deadlines.
