We’re growing fast and looking to hire a Country Director for Nigeria to lead all aspects of business development in the country.
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Country Director to lead Odyssey’s business development expansion and operations in Nigeria. This individual will spearhead sales and client relationships for Odyssey’s innovative credit products to renewable energy developers and EPCs, and foster platform partnerships with regional renewable energy financiers and equipment manufacturers.
This is a high-impact leadership role for someone excited about scaling a climate finance business in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
Required Experience and Qualifications
- Develop and execute strategic business development plans to achieve credit deployment targets.
- Identify and prioritize key clients and partners to continue Odyssey’s rapid growth in Nigeria.
- Build and manage strong relationships renewable energy project developers and EPCs utilizing Odyssey’s credit offerings; execute impactful, client-oriented end-to-end sales and account management processes
- Build and maintain strong relationships with industry stakeholders including banks, non-banking financial institutions, and equipment manufacturers in Nigeria.
- Lead negotiations and structure commercial agreements with clients and partners.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams (sales, marketing, operations) to ensure the seamless execution of strategic initiatives.
- Analyze industry trends, regulatory shifts, and market dynamics to inform strategic planning.
- Identify resources and capability needs to unlock new market opportunities.
Who You Are
- A senior business leader with knowledge and experience of mini-grids, stand-alone solar projects built and financed under Government programs e.g. DARES
- A strategic business development leader with pre-existing network among companies, equipment suppliers, financiers and regulators in the Nigerian renewables sector
- Result-driven with track record of identifying and closing business opportunities to achieve business targets and P&L results
- A persuasive communicator and negotiator who thrives on building long-term client and partner relationships
- Comfortable operating remotely and independently in a fast-moving startup environment, while working collaboratively across teams
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Finance, or a related field; MBA or equivalent is preferred
- Proven success in business development, sales, or account management roles (preferably within the renewable energy finance sector and/or fintech sectors)
- Strong network across renewable energy companies, banks, and non-banking financial institutions in Nigeria (preferable)
- Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously, with strong organizational and prioritization skills
