December 7th marked a major milestone for the mini-grid sector in Nigeria: the first mini-grid funded by the Nigeria Electrification Project (NEP) Performance-Based Grant program was commissioned — one of the fastest program implementations to date. Deployed by PowerGen Renewable Energy Nigeria, the mini-grid is bringing power to an expected 3,000 people in Rokota, a community in Nigeria’s Niger state.

Powered by the Odyssey platform, NEP is proving that new technologies and data solutions can enable efficient results-based financing. Read our latest case study on how NEP is using Odyssey to facilitate one the sector’s most ambitious off-grid rural electrification programs in history.
