1) Customer Overview
The customer is a well-established Indian solar EPC contractor with over 15 years of experience delivering turnkey renewable energy projects nationwide. Since inception, the company has commissioned more than 400 MW of solar capacity and offers a comprehensive suite of services including EPC, O&M, technical consultancy, and module trading.
With an active order book exceeding 700 MW, valued at approximately ₹1,100 crore, the EPC works with some of India’s most prominent corporates and independent power producers (IPPs). Its client portfolio includes leading cement manufacturers, global data center operators, and utility-scale developers.
In addition to EPC execution, the company operates a 75 MW captive module manufacturing facility and is in the process of expanding this to 800 MW of annual capacity, reinforcing its vertically integrated approach.
2) The Challenge
In 2025, the EPC secured 193.8 MW of ground-mounted solar EPC contracts across Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh. These projects were awarded by marquee clients, including highly rated IPPs and large industrial consumers, and were governed by tight execution timelines.
The immediate procurement requirements included:
- Solar PV modules and transformers for a 22 MWp industrial project in Rajasthan
- Module mounting structures (MMS) for more than 75 MW of C&I ground-mounted projects
Key constraints faced by the EPC were:
- High upfront capital commitment for critical equipment
- Staggered project cash inflows, linked to milestone-based customer payments
- Risk of supply delays and price escalation if procurement was deferred
The EPC needed a solution that would allow it to secure essential equipment immediately, while preserving internal liquidity to support execution across its expanding project pipeline.
3) The Odyssey Procurement Solution
Odyssey Energy Solutions partnered with the EPC to deliver a structured procurement solution supported by a dedicated credit facility, enabling rapid sourcing of critical equipment without straining working capital.
Solution Highlights:
- Procurement-Linked Credit Facility
Odyssey enabled equipment procurement with a deployed limit of ₹32 crore, alongside a sanctioned headroom of ₹42 crore to support future scale-up as project execution progressed. - Multi-Category Equipment Support
- Solar PV modules for the Rajasthan ground-mounted project
- Module mounting structures for projects in Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh
- Solar PV modules for the Rajasthan ground-mounted project
- Cash Flow–Aligned Tenure
A four-month payment window, structured to align with the EPC’s customer milestone receipts, ensuring smooth cash flow management during construction. - Phased & Flexible Procurement
Equipment was supplied in tranches, synchronized with site readiness, delivery schedules, and OEM manufacturing timelines—improving execution efficiency across multiple geographies.
By bridging the timing gap between OEM payment requirements and project inflows, Odyssey enabled uninterrupted execution without diverting capital from other active projects.
4) Business Impact & Key Benefits
On-Time Project Execution
Immediate access to modules and MMS ensured construction stayed on schedule across multiple sites, protecting delivery commitments and customer relationships.
Preserved Working Capital
With critical equipment procurement supported by Odyssey, the EPC was able to allocate internal resources to parallel projects within its 700+ MW pipeline.
Stronger Supply Chain Reliability
Early procurement secured priority allocation from OEMs, reducing exposure to price volatility, stock shortages, and delivery uncertainties.
Scalable Execution Confidence
The availability of a structured procurement limit allowed the EPC to confidently take on and execute multiple large-scale projects simultaneously.
Customer Perspective
“Odyssey’s procurement support gave us the flexibility to execute multiple projects in parallel without tying up our own capital. Their team understood our timelines and worked closely with us to align equipment supply with on-ground construction schedules.”
